About

Welcome to “Across The Universe”, my new blog about my endeavors in backyard astronomy!  It is the beginning of the year 2012 AD and I’ve recently found a new hobby in astronomy.  This blog is a journal and account of my pursuit of the stars and their beauty.  I confess this blog will be biased.  I am a Christian who sees pretty much everything through the lenses of the Bible and what it says about God.  Genesis 1:1 says that “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth”, God is the Creator of everything we can see from our home on this planet.  The Bible also says that the heavens give testimony to their Creator and that the celestial beauty is but a shadow of the true beauty of God.

This blog is my attempt to make sense of the insane beauty of the heavens and even more so of God.  As the Ancient Greek philosophers Socrates, Plato, and Aristotle sought the mixture of truth, beauty, and goodness, so I desire to use astronomy to explore how all three of these states exist in God.

I hope that this blog in some way encourages you in your walk with God, or leads to you discover God for the first time, AND stirs up a passion for observing the beauty of the night sky.  Thanks for reading!

  1. I represent the Town of Harmony Florida. We have our 9th Annual Dark Sky Festival next month; I am hoping you can write up something in your blog about it to draw some of your readers in our area to the festival. We’ve been also been featured in National Geographic, which you can access from our website, http://www.darkskyfestival.com. Our website should be able to tell you all you need to know about the festival. Hopefully you can help me raise a little more awareness in the public on astronomy and dark skies. Thank you so much.
